In these products, propellant charges, sealed within a thin metallic cartridge case, are carefully formulated to provide a specified gas output when given the appropriate input signal. They can be electrically or percussion operated. Electrical operation may be from currents ranging from 0.1A to 4A (eg in a 1A1W No Fire configuration). Power Cartridges must be loaded into a supporting breech within the overall weapon system, that is designed to safely contain the high pressures generated. They are used where high power is required to achieve rapid mechanical movement and are ideal for systems requiring a quick loading facility. Typical power cartridge mass flow rates are from 5g/sec to 2kg/sec and operating times are in the range 0.01 to 3 seconds.
