In these products, Mechanite propellant charges are carefully shaped and loaded into specially designed, custom made, hardware to release hot gases in a controlled manner when given the appropriate input signal. They can be electrically or percussion operated. Electrical operation may be from currents ranging from 0.1 Amp to 5 Amps (in a 1A1W No Fire configuration). If required Rad Haz filter protection may be incorporated.
The volume and rate of production of the gas are defined by the chemical combustion, the geometry of the propellant charge, and the nozzle dimensions within the hardware.
Nobel Energetics’ Gas Generators do not need to be supported by a breech mechanism. Typical gas generating mass flow rates are from 3g/sec up to 100g/sec.
Depending on application, Gas Generators may be required to operate over time periods ranging from 25 milliseconds to 250 seconds. In many applications they can provide operational benefits over cold gas systems.
